$10bn looted and shifted abroad annually: Imran

UPPER DIR: PTI chairman Imran Khan on Friday claimed that $10 billion was looted in the country and shifted abroad annually.

Addressing a public meeting in Dir stadium here, the PTI chief said if his party formed the next government in the centre, the money illegally transferred abroad from the country would be brought back and spent on roads, schools, universities and development projects, while the corrupt people, especially rulers, would be put behind bars.

He accused former prime minister Nawaz Sharif of committing massive corruption and said the money siphoned off by ‘small thieves’ was equivalent to the value of the flats owned by the PML-N leader in London.

The PTI chief said a country defaulted on loans when its president and premier committed corruption.

He said he would introduce the system of justice and merit in the country if the people elected his party to power in 2018.

Mr Imran criticised PPP leader Asif Zardari for the alleged massive corruption and said it was sad for the country that a corrupt man (Zaradri) managed to become its president.

He said 100,000 students of private schools enrolled themselves in the government’s educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to the massive reforms of the PTI government in the education sector.

The PTI chief said the people of Europe got education in government schools and colleges but in Pakistan, the poor people went to government schools and the rich people got education in private schools.

He said his party’s government in KP had brought positive changes in the system of governance and would turn around the system of governance across the country after forming government in the centre.

PTI general secretary Jehangir Tareen, MNA Murad Saeed and leaders Mehmood Khan, Farhad Ali Khan, Naveed Anjum and Naveed Shaheen were also present on the occasion.
