PHC chief justice vows to ensure quick dispensation of justice
PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi on Saturday expressed his resolve to take all possible measures to facilitate the bench and bar for quick dispensation of justice.
He gave the assurance to the legal fraternity during his visit to tehsil courts in Banda Daud Shah, Karak, and district courts Lakki Marwat on Saturday. He was accompanied by Justice Lal Jan Khattak of the high court.
Justice Afridi met judicial officers and lawyers, where district and sessions judges and presidents of bar associations also put forth their issues before the chief justice and requested for their early resolution for quick dispensation of justice.
Mr Afridi assured that all possible measures would be taken to facilitate the bench and bar for quick dispensation of justice. He said posting of additional district and sessions judge at Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil would be made on priority basis keeping in view the huge pendency of the custody cases.
The chief justice also informed the members of the bar that law books had been issued for the lawyers and courts which had to be kept and maintained by the junior member of tehsil bar and junior most civil judge.
He also directed speeding up construction work on model courts in Banda Daud Shah tehsil.
The chief justice also offered Fateha at the residence of Rafiullah Khan (late), the district and sessions judge, who died this year during the performance of Haj.
Meanwhile, the administrative judge for prisons, Justice Qalandar Ali Khan, and IG prisons Shahidullah Khan paid a visit to the central prison Mardan.
Justice Ali Khan inspected the cook house, jail hospital, women section, and heard grievances of the prisoners. He issued directions to the jail authorities for redressal of the grievances.
The judge also checked quality of food prepared for prisoners and ration store. He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and facilities provided to prisoners.
A total of 22 prisoners were released during the camp court on the spot by the additional district and sessions judge and senior civil judge as their cases were disposed of.
IG Shahidullah also granted special remission of two months to the convicted prisoners.
