Govt promises funds for Mardan varsity

MARDAN: Provincial education minister Mohammad Atif on Thursday assured the administration of the Abdul Wali Khan University here that the government would provide it with funds to manage the current financial crisis.

He gave the assurance to newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor Prof Khursheed and staff members concerned during a visit to the campus.

The minister examined work on various departments and other buildings and was briefed by the relevant staff members on it.

He said he knew that the university faced a financial crisis but said the Higher Education Commission’s audit team would soon visit the campus to help it manage the issue.

The minister said both provincial government and HEC would provide funds to the university.

He also met students and learned about their problems and suggestions for the betterment of the university’s affairs. The VC told the minister that he would ensure the promotion of research-based and qualitative education in the university.
