Siraj urges ECP to allow honest people to contest election
SIALKOT/NAROWAL: Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq once again underscored the need to ensure accountability of all, saying the party submitted an application to the Supreme Court to take up the case of all those named in the Panama Papers case.
“There can’t be democracy without accountability,” he told a public meeting at Zafarwal tehsil. “All those who are named in the Panama Papers case or under investigation by the National Accountability Bureau should not be allowed to contest the 2018 general election,” he said.
He hit out at the government for failing to meet the aspirations of the masses by ensuring availability of facilities such as potable water, employment etc. He regretted justice was elusive for the man in the street.
He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to stop all the corrupt politicians from participating in the elections.
He said people had become politically mature and rejected all those politicians who had plundered the national exchequer. He said the JI would not allow anyone to change the ‘Khatam-i-Nabbuwat’ law.
