ABBOTTABAD: Baba Haider Zaman, the chief of Tehreek-i-Sooba Hazara, has announced to disrupt a public meeting of former prime minister and PML-N president Nawaz Sharif scheduled to be held in Abbottabad on Nov 19.

While addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he insisted that Mr Sharif had always cheated and dodged the people of Hazara. Mr Zaman, who was also flanked by the Tehreek’s office-bearers, said the ousted premier was twice elected from Abbottabad, but he had done nothing for betterment of the Hazara people, especially their demand for creation of a separate province, which was also included in the ruling party’s agenda for 2013 elections.

He also lashed out at the PTI chairman Imran Khan for backing out of his promise that concerns of the people of Hazara would be addressed. “Now time has come that people of Hazara taught a lesson to the leaders who have been repeatedly making false promises.”

Baba Hazara said the elected representatives would suffer the cost of deceiving the people in the coming general elections.

It merits a mention here that National Assembly Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi has made announcement that Nawaz Sharif will address big a public meeting on Nov 19 on his start of a country-wide mass contact movement.

workers warned against STRIKES: Retired Maj-Gen Mohammad Asif Khan, the newly-elected chairman of the Board of Governors of Ayub Medical Teaching Institution (AMTI), has asked its employees to avoid the trend of strikes in the best interest of patients.

This he said during his first interaction with doctors and staff of Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, and Ayub Teaching Hospital Complex here on Wednesday.

Gen Asif said merit would be the top priority and there would be zero tolerance for corruption and violations of rules. He said a hospital had two pillars – the employees and the patients, and as being the local employees, ‘we are bound to serve the patients without any hurdle. He said now each and every action taken by the board would be open and visible to all and sundry. He said he would try to reduce the gap between the employees and management of the complex.

Earlier, he presided over a meeting of BOG which was also attended by the three new members.

Gen Asif said the board had already set its priorities for making Ayub Medical College as the best learning institution and improving quality of services at the Ayub Teaching Hospital.
