PTI sends defamation notice to ex-member Akbar S. Babar
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has served on Akbar S. Babar, a founding member of the party who is no longer associated with it, a defamation notice for levelling allegations against the party and its leadership on social, print and electronic media.
According to information issued by party’s central media department, the notice was served by the PTI’s central deputy secretary information Fayyazul Hassan Chouhan through Advocate Syed Zaheer Hussain.
The notice sought immediate removal of the defamatory threads from social networking websites and an apology for the damage done to the reputation of the PTI and its leadership.
It demanded that a proposal be made for the payment of the damages for the harm caused to the reputation of the party and its leadership. The notice sought the apology within 14 days and asked for an undertaking to delete newly published defamatory content regarding the PTI and its leaders.
Mr Babar while talking to Dawn said the defamation notice was an attempt to muzzle the “campaign of truth” which was hurting the PTI.
“The fact is that the PTI chief had to apologise in the Election Commission of Pakistan rather than me. I have been telling the truth so will not stop telling it,” he added.
