501 players make it to HBL PSL draft

With the 2018 edition of Pakistan Super League just around the corner, a total of 501 foreign and local cricketers will be available for selection at the player draft scheduled to take place on November 12.

Teams have already retained nine players each and will go into the HBL PSL Player Draft to pick one player from the Platinum category, one from the Diamond category, one from the Gold category, two players from the Silver category and two players from the Emerging stars pool, in order to complete their squad of 16.

Teams will also be able to select four players in the supplementary round to complete their 20-member roster.

Each team will have a salary cap of $1.2 million for a squad of 20 players.

Top international players — including Chris Lynn, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, Carlos Brathwaite, Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo, Jimmy Neesham, Angelo Mathews, Mustafizur Rahman, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mitchell Johnson, Colin Munro, Luke Ronchi, Adil Rashid, Wayne Parnell, Thisara Perera and Colin Ingram — will be up for selection at the PSL Draft.

Promising cricketers from the Pakistan Under-19 set-up and top performers of the recently concluded Under-19 Pentangular Cup have been added to the Emerging Players roster.

Starting this year, teams may also nominate players from their own 'Talent Hunt Discovery' section that comprise players who were discovered during each team's talent hunt programmes but were unable to qualify into the emerging players category.
