Pakistan, China reaffirm support for each other: Foreign Office

Pakistan and China reaffirmed their support for each other in “all mutually relevant areas for the benefit of the two countries” during a meeting between Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and China's Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou, a foreign ministry statement stated on Monday.

The delegations of the two countries had met for the eighth round of strategic dialogue in Islamabad. The two sides held detailed discussions on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, bilateral trade, defence, counter-terrorism, culture, education and people-to-people exchange, read the statement.

Representatives of both the countries also discussed regional issues, including the law and order situation in Afghanistan. Janjua also brought up human rights violations by the Indian army in held Kashmir and expressed hope that the issue would attract the attention of the international community.

The delegations of Pakistan and China also reiterated their commitment to support each other on international forums like the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
