Voracious [vo·ra·cious]

It’s an adjective, meaning wanting or devouring great quantities of something or somebody.

Voracious is one of several English words that derive from the Latin verb vorare, which means ‘to eat greedily’ or ‘to devour’.

Synonyms: Insatiable, unquenchable, unappeasable, prodigious, uncontrollable, uncontrolled, omnivorous, compulsive, gluttonous, greedy, etc.

Usage:

• “He has a voracious appetite.”

• “She’s a voracious reader.”
