Indian Army official arrested with heroin worth Rs400m in India-held Kashmir

An Indian army official was arrested in India-held Kashmir with eight kilograms of heroin worth Rs400 million in the international market on Sunday, a top police officer confirmed on Monday.

According to the Kashmir Media Service, the Inspector General (IG) Police S.D. Singh Jamwal said that the official was arrested on Sunday with heroin bearing Afghan markings.

The consignment, headed for Delhi, was the second major haul recovered in the past three days, IG Jamwal said.

The accused was an Indian army official of the Light Infantry regiment and attached with the army headquarters in Delhi.

the officer has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
