Hasheesh, Mahatir clinch junior tennis titles

KARACHI: Young and talented Hasheesh Kumar dropped a set before beating Rayyan Jawad in the final of U-14 singles event and clinch the title of 3rd McDonald’s National Junior Tennis Championship here on Tuesday at the Creek Club.

After a tough battle in the first set, Hasheesh won the set by 7-6 score. However, Rayyan leveled the arrears winning the second set by 6-4 score. In the decisive third set, Hasheesh overcame Rayyan by 7-6 score to claim the title.

In U-12 event climax, Mahatir Muhammad recovered from a set down to beat Ashar Mir by 4-6, 6-1, 10-5.

The closing ceremony of the Championship is to be held on Wednesday 4.30pm. Faizan Syed, CEO Health TV, wil be the chief guest on the occasion.

U-18 (semifinal): Sahibzada M Ali bt Hassan Farooq 6-2,6-3

U-14 (final): Hasheesh Kumer bt Rayyan Jawad 7-6,4-6, 7-6

U-12 (final): Mahatir Muhammad bt Ashar Mir 4-6,6-1,10-5

U-10 (semifinal): Zain Ehtasham bt Dhruf Das 8-1

35 plus Singles (semifinal): Vinod Das bt Kalim Ghanchi 8-6

55 Plus Singles (quarter-final) Noorullah Dhanani bt Mushtaq Ahmed 8-1.
