Gazain Marri released on bail in case regarding links to banned organisations

Gazain Marri was released from district jail Quetta on Wednesday after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta granted bail to Nawabzada Gazain Marri in a case regarding his alleged links with banned militant organisations.

ATC Judge Dawood Nasar accepted the bail application of the former home minister of Balochistan and ordered him to submit a surety bond worth Rs300,000. Advocate Arbab Tahir, the counsel for Marri, appeared before the court on his behalf.

Marri has already been granted bail in the murder case of Balochistan High Court's senior judge, Justice Nawaz Marri, by a district and sessions court.

Marri, who returned to Pakistan in September after 18 years in self-exile, was nominated along with others in the Justice Nawaz Marri murder case. The deceased judge was killed in 2000 on Zarghoon Road on his way to the high court.

The former home minister returned from the UAE only after receiving protective bail from the Sindh High Court. He was, however, arrested soon after he landed at Quetta airport due to several cases against him. His lawyers filed an application for the confirmation of the protective bail but the court rejected the application.
