11 ‘militants’ arrested in Balochistan
QUETTA: Security personnel arrested 11 suspected militants belonging to a banned outfit and seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition during search operations conducted in various parts of Balochistan.
Official sources said on Sunday it was mainly the Frontier Corps that carried out the operations in Duki, Kohlu and Qila Saifullah districts upon receiving intelligence-based information.
However, personnel of intelligence agencies and members of the Levies Force also took part in the raids carried out in connection with the ongoing Raddul Fasaad operation.
The sources said that security forces arrested 11 suspected militants from different areas during the operations. “They belong to a banned militant organisation.”
In Qila Saifullah security forces found four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that were defused by personnel of the bomb disposal squad. The IEDs were ready for planting.
No arrest was reported.
The Levies personnel seized a huge quantity of illegal arms and ammunition from a place on the outskirts of Kohlu town. The deputy commissioner of Kohlu district said the Levies Force had carried out a search operation in the area.
“The Levies raided a compound and recovered arms and ammunition stored underground by terrorists for attacks,” said Agha Nadeem Akhtar at a press conference.
