Opinion: Is money everything?
Money is an essential element in our lives. From birth to death, every person needs money to live a comfortable life. It is worse to have too little money than to have too much of it.
However, these days, it has become evident that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Rich people have resources while poor people have nothing. There is no balance in society, so having too little money means having a lot of financial difficulties or crises as the person would not be able to fulfil his fundamental needs.
Our country is a developing one, and the ratios of poverty and out of schoolchildren are high. A lot of people in the country can’t even afford to have meals three times a day. There are so many homeless people sleeping on pavements, as they can’t afford a proper house. Therefore, hunger and malnutrition prevails, leading to disease and death. With little money, there is little hope for a person to be able to find medical treatment when they fall sick.
Furthermore, with barely enough to eat, how can people afford to send their children to school? To fill empty stomachs, these poor families force their children to work or to beg on the streets. This damages and destroys the future of these poor kids forever. How can a country prosper if the youth is begging and working in factories just to get a few hundred rupees? The country is thus deprived of an educated nation, which otherwise could have brightened the country’s name in various fields.
However, it must be remembered that money is not everything. Too much money can make a person obnoxious and arrogant. People rolling in money usually forget that there are other people who need their aid. So they should help people on the street and the needy families. Money should be spent wisely and for a greater cause for everyone, not just for one’s self.
Remember kids, money cannot buy us happiness, time, health, friends, life, etc. One can get happiness and love only with love and compassion, and not money.
According to Garth Brooks, “You are not wealthy until you have something money cannot buy.” Thus, it is good to have money, and the things it can buy, but one must make sure that they do not lose the valuable things in life which money cannot buy. Money is good, when used well and in the right way.
