One killed in Chaman blast

QUETTA, May 3: A man was killed and four others were injured in an explosion in the border town of Chaman on Tuesday, police said. “It was a live mortar shell that exploded in the scrap material brought from Afghanistan,” a senior police officer said.

According to sources, the blast took place when labourers were trying to load the scrap brought from across the border on a truck. The deceased was a local labourer, identified as Abdul Raziq.

“The explosion was so huge that parts of victim’s body were scattered all over the place,” police said. Four other labourers received serious injuries and were rushed to the Civil Hospital of Chaman.

Police sources said it was an accident and no act of sabotage.
