Science exhibition opens in Larkana
LARKANA: A two-day science exhibition was inaugurated at Pakistan Arts Council (PAC) here on Wednesday, jointly organised by the district administration and Alif Ailaan.
With science models designed and prepared by students, more than 50 schools participated in the event. A huge crowd hailing from different schools and the people of Larkana visited the exhibition.
Never before had such a big science exhibition been organised here, organiser Junaid Dahar, divisional head of Alif Ailaan, said, adding that the enthusiasm he had witnessed was wonderful.
Prominent among others were the educational institutions: Cadet College Larkana, IBA Public School, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology, CSS College and Government Girls Higher Secondary School. Books on various science subjects were put on sale on the occasion.
Students of different schools interviewed complained about mismanagement, but overall they appreciated efforts of the organisers who had gathered a galaxy of talent at one place.
Visitors were seen absorbed in scientific models the students had prepared and were demonstrating with command and confidence. A group of students of class five from IBA Public School developed a computer game and displayed it to science lovers.
Larkana Deputy Commissioner Kashif Tipu and Mayor Mohammed Aslam Shaikh, who inaugurated the exhibition, took round of the stalls and appreciated the exhibits on display.
They said that such science exhibitions should be made annual features in academic activities and also such events on smaller scale should be held at regular intervals to encourage students.
Mr Dahar said he did not expect such a big crowd and this level of participation in the event.
