Turkey expresses solidarity with Pakistan over US remarks

ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday called his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain and expressed solidarity in view of recent remarks of US President Donald Trump against Pakistan.

According to the Presidency, Turkish president said the behaviour of US administration was quite “unpleasant” despite unforgettable sacrifices given by Pakistan in the war on terror.

“President Trump’s tweet is ‘unpleasant’ while sacrifices of Pakistan are ‘dignified’,” he said as quoted in a press release issued by the Presidency.

Turkish president was of view that Pakistan had made historical and remarkable sacrifices in the war on terror.

In a late night telephone call, Turkish president said Pakistan and Turkey were brother countries and stood together in all situations.

President Mamnoon expressed his gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for showing solidarity with Pakistan and said he felt proud because of the love and support given by Turkish brothers.

Mr Mamoon said Pakistan will give an appropriate reply to inappropriate remarks of the US president.

“Pakistan believes in the policy of engagement and cooperation but its emotions were not given due weight and importance,” he said.
