Several projects approved for GB

GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Working Development Party (GBWDP) has approved projects worth Rs2.99 billion for the region.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the body chaired by GB Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz, according a press release issued here on Wednesday.

A project worth Rs100 million was approved for combating natural disasters in the region. This project would be completed by the GB home department.

The meeting also approved projects in various sectors, including education, social welfare, power and health.

It approved two schemes to be completed with cost of Rs240 million in culture and tourism sectors.

A project costing Rs100 million was approved in social welfare sector, a scheme worth Rs100 million was approved for education sector.

The meeting approved key projects for departments of home, social welfare, education and energy with special focus on improving socio-economic conditions of masses.

The GBWDP decided to forward five mega projects worth Rs2 billion to the higher forum for approval.
