Over 350 suspects held, arms seized in Kohat operation
KOHAT: The Kohat police have arrested 356 suspected persons, including 52 proclaimed offenders, during an operation conducted in various parts of the district.
A huge cache of arms and narcotics was also recovered from their possession.
District police officer Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat told mediapersons that the operation was based on tip-off. He said the police raided different spots in the city and rounded up 356 suspects, including 52 proclaimed offenders involved in murder, attempted murder and other heinous cases. He said the police also recovered six SMGs, three Kalakoves, 13 shotguns, seven rifles, 30 pistols, 90 chargers, 2,600 rounds of different bores and 35kg hashish from the suspects.
PROTEST: The protesting members of the all sub-engineers association, Kohat division, have threatened to stage a sit-in at Banigala residence of PTI chief Imran Khan if their demand of upgradation was not accepted.
The pen-down protest by the sub-engineers entered the fifth day on Friday.
The protesters said if their demand was not immediately accepted they would meet law minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, chairman standing committee on information MPA Ziaullah Bangash and adviser to the PTI chief, former governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, to apprise them of their reservations. And as a last resort, a sit-in would be staged at Banigala on Jan 15.
A protest meeting of the sub-engineers was held chaired by their association’s divisional president Malik Imdad. The central secretary general of the cultural wing of PTI visited the protesters’ camp and assured them that their demand of upgradation would be met soon.
