NAB sends notice to LDA DG in Aleem case

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday issued notices to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general (DG) and other officers in an inquiry into charges of corruption against former MPA and PTI leader Abdul Aleem Khan.

NAB had started investigation against PTI leader Abdul Aleem Khan on corruption charges in the Park View Villas, River Age Housing Society, Multan Road among others.

NAB Lahore had issued inquiry notices through a letter to the LDA DG and five other LDA officers/officials, namely Director Sheikh Abdul Qayyum, Deputy Director Nadeem Akhtar Zaidi, former DG Raja Abbas, Chief Metropolitan Planner Khwaja Shaukat Jamal and patwari Akram. It also directed Aleem to appear before the investigating team at its Thokar Niaz Beg Office on Jan 15.

Mr Khan, in his statement, rejected the charges levelled against him, saying he had not committed any crime and he had purchased approved society from the LDA in 2010 and had filed its extension plan for approval. He said the government had started politically victimizsation.

“If any government official has started investigation under the PML-N government pressure, it shall not be called legal,” he said.

Mr Khan said he would stand by PTI chief Imran Khan and would not succumb to the government pressure. “I am being victimised for supporting Imran Khan,” he said.
