PN team meets Mauritius leaders
ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Navy delegation met political and military leadership of Mauritius and discussed with them matters of mutual interest and avenues for enhanced cooperation between the two countries.
According to a press release issued by the navy’s general public relations directorate here on Sunday, Commander of Pakistan Fleet Rear Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, along with Mission Commander Commodore Javaid Iqbal and commanding officers of PN ships Khaibar and Nasr, held meetings with President of Mauritius Ameenah Gurib Fakim, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Vice Prime Minister Fazila Dawreeawoo, Minister for Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare Roubina Jado-Jaunbocus, Police Commissioner Karl Mario Nobin and Lord Mayor of Port Louis Daniel Eric Clive Laurent.
The visit was aimed at promoting peace and security in the region and also joining celebrations for the 50th independence day of Mauritius. This also signifies the 50-year diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Mauritius. The officers and men of PN ships also visited the Mauritius Coast Guard Training Centre, while the officers and men of Mauritius Coast Guard visited the PN ships to attend maritime interdiction operations and counter-piracy workshop.
A reception dinner was hosted onboard PNS Nasr to mark the 50th year of standing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
