Work on Quetta Safe City project to begin soon, says CM

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo on Saturday said work on the Quetta Safe City project would be initiated in the next few days.

He gave this assurance to citizens during a surprise visit to busy areas of the provincial capital to monitor the situation of the city himself.

MPA Mir Hammal Kalmati, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Nasibullah Bazai, Quetta Division Commissioner Amjad Ali Khan and other officials accompanied the chief minister during the visit.

“The Quetta Safe City project could not be implemented for a long time due to various reasons,” Mr Bizenjo said, adding that the new government had decided to start the work on the project to keep an eye on activities and movement of anti-state elements.

He said the police must play its role in maintaining law and order and the government would stand by them to keep their morale high, adding that the government was taking all possible steps to provide resources to police to fight terrorists.

The chief minister, however, warned senior police officers of tough action if any act of terror took place in their areas because of their negligence.

Mr Bizenjo said that no government and institution could succeed without the help and cooperation of the people and requested the masses to cooperate with the government to resolve issues pertaining to the province.

He said the government would take all possible steps to protect life, honour and property of the people of Balochistan.
