HYDERABAD: Cracks develop in SNP ranks

HYDERABAD, May 9: Cracks are reported to have developed in the Sindh National Party following resignation/expulsion of its two senior office-bearers, deputy general secretary Anwar Khoso and coordination secretary Wahid Bux Sangrasi. Rival groups of the party are hurling allegations of corrupt practices against each other.

Around 50 supporters of Mr Khoso and Mr Sangrasi held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday and raised slogans against party chairman Amir Bhambhro.

Speaking on the occasion, district SNP chief organizer Mohammad Ali Chandio said the party was not the fief of Amir Bhambhro but a heritage of party workers.

He condemned alleged threats being issued to Mr Khoso and Mr Sangrasi.

He demanded resignation of Mr Bhambhro from the party chairmanship. He appealed to party workers to rise against Mr Bhambhro.

Dr Anwar Hajani, Dr Amreshi Thakur, Shabbir Inqalabi and others also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, party secretary-general Dilshad Bhutto said in a statement that extortionist elements, narcotics dealers and people involved in offences like kidnapping for ransom would not be tolerated in the party.
