Kasur case suspect remanded in police custody

LAHORE: The suspect arrested following the murder of a Kasur minor girl in January will remain in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) custody till Feb 9.

The suspect was produced before Anti-Terrorism Court judge Sajjad Ahmed amid tight security where CTD personnel said the DNA samples of the suspect matched with the samples of swabs collected from the bodies of seven other minor girls, found killed in Kasur on different times.

The investigating officer asked the court to grant five-day physical remand of the suspect for he was also involved in rape and murder of seven other minors. However, the judge granted three-day physical remand of the suspect to the police.

Previously, the CTD had obtained 14-day remand of the suspect in the murder case of the minor girl which would expire today. He was arrested after the minor girl had gone missing on Jan 4 from her Kasur locality and later her body was found on a trash heap on Jan 9. The incident had sparked violent protests in Kasur.
