Tareen’s son alleges code violation in NA-154
MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate for NA-154 by-poll Ali Khan Tareen, son of disqualified party leader Jahangir Tareen, lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of Pakistan against State Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development Abdul Rehman Kanju for violating the code of conduct.
In a letter to returning officer on Saturday, Ali Tareen stated that Mr Kanju had been campaigning for the PML-N candidate in the constituency on a daily basis for the last one month.
“It is a matter of deep regret that the ECP has completely ignored his activities and provided him free hand to conduct Mr Iqbal Shah’s campaign. In addition to this the PML-N has violated the code of conduct by putting up billboards much larger than the allowed size,” he said.
PTI chairman Imran Khan is also alleged to have violated the code of conduct for bye-election and ignored a warning issued by the ECP on Friday by addressing a public gathering in Lodhran.
The bye-election is scheduled to be held on Feb 12. The seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified Jahangir Tareen, former general secretary of the PTI.
DEATH IN FLIGHT: A passenger aboard a Pakistan International Airlines flight lost his life after suffering a cardiac attack during journey on Saturday.
Sheikh Abdul Rehman suffered heart attack and died before PK-330 from Karachi landed in Multan.
