Foreign policy
SINCE the inauguration of Donald Trump in the White House, things have dramatically changed. The US has become more assertive than ever. As the US has been at daggers’ drawn with Iran, China, Russia and North Korea, Pakistan could soon find itself ensnared in a very difficult situation.
New Delhi’s and Washington’s mounting nexus could also significantly jeopardise Islamabad’s security interests. Given this, now is the right time for Pakistan to display gumption and chalk out a strategy to face the new dangers.
Pakistan should recalibrate its foreign policy with emphasis on neutrality. Aligning with the US or China will not fit the bill; it can only put us on a collision course with either.
