Kashmala named ombudsperson on women’s harassment

ISLAMABAD: After an interval of several years former legislator Kashmala Tariq is again in the limelight as she has been appointed ombudsperson on harassment of women at workplaces for a period of four years.

A notification issued by the law minister on Tuesday said: “The President of Pakistan has been pleased to appoint Ms Kashmala Tariq as Ombudsperson under section 7(2) of Protection against Harassment of Women at the Work Places Act-2010 read with section 21 of the Federal Ombudsmen Institution Reforms Act-2013 for a period of four years with effect from the date of taking oath of the office.”

Ms Tariq was one of the vocal woman legislators during retired Gen Pervez Musharraf’s regime. She holds a degree of law.
