Two shot dead in Haripur
HARIPUR: Two persons, including a married woman, were shot dead in Khanpur area here on Sunday.
Khanpur police said they took into custody a partially-mutilated body of a man in his 40s, from a watercourse near Bhamala village and shifted it to tehsil headquarters hospital, Khanpur.
According to autopsy report unknown assailant (s) had pumped four bullets in the body of man before setting it on fire apparently to hide the identity of the deceased. However, the police recovered the partially-burnt CNIC near the body and succeeded in establishing his identity.
The police said the deceased was Allah Bux, a resident of Talagang Chakwal. Police have registered a criminal case against unknown accused.
Meanwhile, a woman was shot dead over a marriage dispute in remote Sair Narota village.
Khanpur police quoted a man as saying that the accused, a resident of Sangra village, came to his (complainant’s brother’s house) with the marriage proposal of his son for the daughter of his brother on Sunday morning.
But, the complainant said he asked his brother to decline the proposal as the boy was not of good character. He said when his brother turned down the proposal, the accused got infuriated and opened fire at him, but when his daughter-in-law, 23, attempted to stop the attacker, a bullet pierced through her body, injuring her critically.
