Mehran Club win Quaid Gold Cup

TANDO JAM: Mehran Club, Hyderabad outplayed Rajput XI 3-0 to win the All-Sindh Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup hockey tournament here at the Agricultural University ground on Sunday.

Mohammad Nauman scored two goals while Rameez Ali scored one as the winners dominated the final and never allowed Rajput XI to settle down.

As many as 15 teams from all over Sindh participated in the tournament including from Hyderabad, Mirpur­khas, Tando Allahyar, Kotri, Jamshoro and other districts.

The week-long tournament was organized by Tando Jam Agricultural University in collaboration with the Sindh Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Famous ex-Olympian Farhat Khan was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes. Both Farhat as well as Convenor Sindh Games venue committee Ghulam Mohammad while speaking on the occasion, said they were delighted to see the hockey talent in Tando Jam and it reminded them of Gojra.

Shah for getting an astro turf installed in Tando Jam to encourage the young players.

Tournament organizer and Director Sports Tando Jam Agriculture University, Anwar Hussain Khanzada said the tournament’s success is a boost for the game.
