Eoin Morgan to lead Karachi Kings in Imad Wasim's absence
England's limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan will lead Karachi Kings in the absence of their regular skipper Imad Wasim, who is currently nursing a head injury he picked up in a Pakistan Super League fixture on Sunday.
Wasim banged the back of his head on the ground while taking the catch of Lahore Qalandars batsman Sohail Khan and had to leave the field.
He was later diagnosed with mild concussion and, although his condition has since improved, doctors have advised him a few days' rest.
The all-rounder has been ruled out of Thursday's all-important clash with Peshawar Zalmi, creating an opening for the team's captaincy, which will now be filled by their vice-captain Morgan, who only recently linked up with the Kings and has yet to feature in PSL 2018.
The arrangement, however, is only temporary and will not last beyond the Kings' remaining league matches as Morgan has excused himself from traveling to Pakistan for the play-offs.
Head injuries and concussions in sports
Injuries to the back of the head and concussions are taken very seriously in professional sports as they can have a serious impact on athletes' instant and long-term well-being. Knocks to the back of the head can, at times, be fatal, whereas undiagnosed, untreated concussions are known to cause Chronic traumatic encephalopathy later on in life.
