PTI’s Pakistan Day rally proves a crowd-puller

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Friday organised a big Youm-i-Pakistan rally from Liberty to Faisal Square on The Mall, resolving that the party would continue to work with more enthusiasm to root out corruption from the country.

The party leaders and workers also resolved that there was now no option but to elect the patriotic and honest leadership.

A large number of PTI workers led by party’s central Punjab president Abdul Aleem Khan gathered at Liberty roundabout carrying banners, placards and party flags. National songs were played on car stereos, while workers continued dancing at Liberty as well as en route The Mall.

The party workers chanted slogans against disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif and “Prime Minister Imran Khan”.
The rally on luxury vehicles, cars, vans and motorbikes reached The Mall in front of the Punjab Assembly after a run of two and-a-half hours.

Speaking to a crowd of workers, Aleem Khan said the corrupt rulers had led the country to a situation where they could not see the true outcome of the Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal’s vision. He said people were looking for a square meal and the youth running from pillar to post to get jobs.

He said the PTI under the leadership of Imran Khan wanted to develop Pakistan that could earn accolades the world over. He asserted that the nation would oust the corrupt rulers in the next general election. He said PTI chief Imran Khan’s successful tour of Gujranwala had caused panic in the ranks of the PML-N.

Mr Khan announced that Imran Khan would visit each and every constituency of Lahore on March 30 and April 1 to seek direct feedback from the party workers. He said the PTI would hold another historic public meeting at Minar-i-Pakistan on April 29, where Imran Khan would speak and prompt workers to get ready for the final round of political battle – the general election.

SEMINAR: At two seminars organised by Dr Yasmin Rashid and Waleed Iqbal in connection with the Pakistan Day, the PTI leaders demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan should ensure holding of general elections well in time as well as in a fair and transparent manner.

PTI core committee member Senator Chaudhry Sarwar said the rulers, who looted the country ruthlessly, would now be held accountable. He said they would not go scot-free by making lame excuses.

He said the PTI’s preparations for the next general election were in full swing.

MNA Shafqat Mahmood said the rulers had converted the Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal’s Pakistan into a hub of thieves and looters. He said the PTI was the only political party that was fighting against corruption and corrupt practices in the country.

Dr Yasmin Rashid said the PTI was fighting against the corrupt rulers for the benefit of the nation.

Waleed Iqbal said only Imran Khan could drive the country out of the quagmire.

The PTI leaders hoisted national flags and cut a cake to celebrate the Pakistan Day.
