Khattak lays foundation stone for park in Mardan

MARDAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khan Khattak on Monday laid foundation stone for a mega park project on the Ring Road here.

Addressing the project launching ceremony, the CM said the PTI government was committed to providing modern parks and playgrounds to the people in the province.

“We have been spending billions of funds on development schemes from provision of clean drinking water, improvement of traffic system, rehabilitation and construction of parks, playgrounds and footpaths, and beautification in all divisional headquarters of the province,” he said.

Mr Khattak said parks and playgrounds were in bad shape during the previous governments as their staff members worked in the houses of the members of the ruling parties.

He said in the past, the political interference had ruined government institutions and organisations.

“Instead of making policies and making positive and necessary legislations, the previous rulers were busy in transfers and postings only,” he said.

The CM said the ruling PTI had introduced reforms in all sectors and thus, ensuring transparency and betterment in their affairs to the benefit of the people.

He said the government had established sanitation companies to ensure cleanliness in cities and introduced e-bidding, e-billing and e-tendering to end corruption in development projects.

Earlier, education minister Atif Khan told participants that the proposed park spread over 380 kanals of land would be in place within six months.

He said the park would have ‘Dino-park, aqua-park, mini golf course, kids play area, community centre, wedding marquee, bicycle track, butterfly and bird aviary, rock climbing area, commercial swings, Dino-gate, sculptures and other facilities,” he said.

The minister said the government had provided Rs840 millions funds to the Mardan Medical Complex Hospital to improve patient care.

“We are going to construct the Sports Complex at the total cost of Rs320 million, which will be inaugurated within the next two weeks,” he said.

The minister said development schemes of Rs1 billion for the beautification of Mardan city were underway in different parts of the district.

He said the government was also putting up flyovers in Mardan city to provide better travelling facilities to the people and ease frequent traffic mess.

The chief minister was also accompanied by MNA Mujahid Khan, provincial assembly members Tufail Anjum and Iftikhar Ali Mashwani, tehsil nazim Haji Ayub Khan and PTI leaders, and district and tehsil councillors.
