Fake soft drinks factory busted

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday sealed a factory producing fake soft drinks and discarded thousands of litres of adulterated drinks.

PFA operations wing teams conducted a raid at the site after receiving information and confiscated 4,800 filled and 6,000 empty bottles.

PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal said the factory was located at Fazal Park Barahdari near the bank of Ravi away from the eyes of the authority. He claimed that it was using chemicals, fake and expired flavour for preparing soft drinks.

He further said the PFA teams discarded a large quantity of substandard and unhygienic raw material used to prepare beverages. They took three gas and two empty cylinders, pumps, screen, chemical drums and sugar into custody and also foiled an attempt to supply these fake drinks to the market.

Mengal said the factory was busted after proper noticing the supply chain and they also took its supply records into custody.
