Filter plant awaits PFA approval

SAHIWAL: A water filtration plant at Scheme No 2, Farid Town, has been closed down for the last three months. Residents blamed the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) for delaying its certification to make it operational.

Residents said the plant, set up by the Rotary Club in 2011, catered to 500 houses. Club president Sultan Mahmood said the plant was imported from Germany. Three months back, the PFA found arsenic content in the water. The club spent Rs80,000 to upgrade the plant but the PFA had not released its report.

Umair Sattar, PFA deputy director, the sample would be checked and the report released in a week.
