Anti-encroachment drive launched

LARKANA, May 20: The Larkana district government launched an anti-encroachment drive in the city on Friday. The action has been taken on the directive of the Sindh High Court, Larkana bench. Seeking administrative support from the District Coordination Officer and DPO Larkana, the municipal staff at the outset removed encroachments from Lahori regulator of Rice to the SSP chowk.

The ASP city, Irfan Baloch, said that those transporters who were plying their buses and wagons from unauthorized stands in the city, had been warned to move to the main bus terminal within two days or face action. The illegal bus and wagon stands in city had caused traffic congestion and fatal accidents.

The frequent and unchecked encroachments even on the main roads had defaced the city.

Meanwhile, the DCO Larkana, Ahmed Bakhsh Khokhar, has constituted a committee headed by the Additional Advocate General Mohammed Bachal Tunio to prepare a report regarding any encroachment made in Jinnahbagh and Zulfikar Bagh.

In this connection the DCO on Friday held a meeting with the transporters, Taluka municipal staff and concerned officials.

He said all illegal bus stands should be shifted from the city to main bus terminal without any delay and the orders of the High Court implemented fully.

The DCO asked the excise and taxation department to register the three wheeler rickshaws (Quinqi Rickshaws) as they had created a mess in the city.

The DCO directed the owners of the Quinqi Rickshaws to get their rickshaws registered under the law otherwise severe action will be taken against them.
