ECP rejects objections to delimitation in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected the 21 objections raised on the latest changes made to the constituencies here and has ordered to readjust only two patwar (revenue) circles in as many provincial assembly seats.

Objections were filed by different candidates for the two National Assembly seats (NA-15 and NA-16) and four provincial assembly seats, but the election commission has decided not to make any change in the NA constituencies.

The objections were filed by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi, former NA deputy speaker Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob, provincial food minister Qalandar Khan Lodhi and tehsil member Jabraiel Abbasi on behalf of Senator Barrister Javed Abbasi, tehsil member Iftikhar Khan and others.

The ECP, while accepting the plea of Havelian tehsil council member Iftikhar Khan, has detached Ghari Pulgran, Rajoiya and Banda Attai Khan areas from PK-37 and included them in PK-38, and detached Salhad union council from PK-38 and to made it part of PK-37.

However, the aggrieved parties have decided to approach the Supreme Court as the ECP has not considered their genuine pleas.
