Chitral police arrest man for assault

CHITRAL: The Chitral police on Monday arrested a man suspected of molesting a minor girl in Ashirait village while she was coming back from school.

Talking to mediapersons here, SP investigations Tariq Karim said that Maqboolur Rahman of Ashrait village had forced the girl aged 10 and studying in grade four to an isolated place two days ago where he molested her, and then went into hiding.

He said that the girl’s parents started searching for her when she did not reach home from school and found her in unconscious condition. Mr Karim said the accused was found from one of his relatives’ house in the village who later admitted to his crime before the police. He said the medical report of the accused and the victim was yet to be received from medico-legal doctors.

He said the accused had also been booked under the Child Protection Act apart from Pakistan Penal Code.

Additional SP Noor Jamal, sub-divisional police officer Iqbal Karim and SHO Ashirait Abdul Muzaffar Shah were also present on the occasion.
