Cameras to be installed at sensitive polling stations
ISLAMABAD: A high-profile meeting held with Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza in the chair on Tuesday reviewed progress over procurement of security cameras for installation, provision of missing facilities at poll stations and availability of sufficient polling staff.
The meeting, attended by chief secretaries of all provinces, was told that security cameras would be installed at most sensitive polling stations during the upcoming general elections for four days.
A participant of the meeting told Dawn that the list of sensitive poll booths would be shared by the provinces next month.
Spokesman of the Election Commission of Pakistan Altaf Ahmad Khan while answering a question dispelled the impression that the meeting finalised July 26 as the date for elections, saying that the matter of deciding the date did not come under discussion during the meeting.
