Opinion: Does society control our actions?

How often we question ourselves, ‘Am I doing the right thing or not?’ Probably every time before making a decision, but the real question is: ‘Do we choose the right thing to do or not?’

Everyone is good at heart, but what makes us different from one another is actually our own actions. However, due to the fear of society, we end up taking wrong decisions in order to remain acceptable to the people around us. This makes it clear that our actions and decisions are indirectly the result of our fear of society.

Unfortunately, in today’s world, society controls us and everything that we do. We have deceived our minds into believing that we are born to fit in with society and so feel compelled to reflect society’s popular notions, otherwise we won’t be accepted by people. But what is society? Who makes up society?

In today’s world, we have deceived our minds into believing that we are born to fit in with society and so feel compelled to reflect society’s popular notions

The answer to these questions is very simple. We are the ones who make up this society. And we are hypocrite; we say one thing and do the opposite. We preach good lessons but we do whatever suits us. We make judgements, remain careless towards others and complain when other people judge us.

This is the sad truth about us and our society — and we may never be able to change this.

However, I am still positive that if we, the younger generation, change ourselves today, it is likely that the tomorrow’s society may come to be sophisticated as well as honest.

So let’s take an oath today that we will not be a part of the unjust attitude of today’s society. We will not judge others, but appreciate their uniqueness. We won’t make decisions that suit others, but we will live by our own decisions, whether someone likes it or not. We will never have a hypocritical attitude.
