Punjab, Sindh to share digital data on criminals

LAHORE: The Punjab and Sindh police Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to exchange record of 1.25 million criminals between the two provinces.

The MOU was signed on the visit of Sindh Police IGP A.D Khawaja to the Punjab police department.

According to a press release, Mr Khawaja held a meeting with Punjab IGP Capt retired Arif Nawaz and other senior police officers of the province.

The meeting was told that that data of one million criminals was available in the Criminal record Office of the Punjab police while Sindh police had data of 250,000 criminals in its record.

With the sharing of the data, police can access details of criminals like pictures and finger prints with only a click of button.

The Sindh IG also visited the OPS room of Capital City Police Office and DIG operations office. Lahore CCPO Capt retired Ameen wains, Admin SSP Rana Ayaz Saleem welcomed the visiting official, Mr Ayaz Saleem briefed the IGP Sindh about the significance of the OPS room and other initiatives.

Mr A.D Khwaja lauded the Welfare Eye project of Lahore police saying that the Sindh police would also replicate this scheme in the province.

The Sindh IG also visited safe city project PCIC3 and acknowledged modern technology based exemplary projects to curb crimes along with efficient traffic management system.
