In pictures: National History Museum prepares to open doors to public

The Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP), a non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation of Pakistan’s history and culture, hosted a curated walk-through of the brand new National History Museum, a project of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore, Government of Punjab, on Saturday.

The museum has been hosting regular public school tours in collaboration with the Punjab School EducationDepartment since Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated it in April. It is now set to open its doors to the general public on July 1, a press release issued by CAP said.

Two-time Academy Award winning film-maker and patron-in-chief of CAP, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, said it is for the first time that a museum has been established to pay homage to the first generation of this nation.

"The National History Museum is a place of introspection to understand who we are as a nationand where we come from," Obaid-Chinoy said.

Digital in nature, the museum is the first of its kind in the country. "State-of-the-art technology has been used to ensure an interactive and immersive experience for visitors," the press release said, adding that virtual reality, a cinema, hologram display, and an amphitheater are some of the features of the museum.
