ATA case against six for firing inside mosque

TOBA TEK SINGH: Rajana police registered on Wednesday a case under section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and sections 302, 324, 148 and 149 of PPC against six people who had allegedly opened fire in a mosque at Chak 359 GB on Tuesday.

Those nominated in the FIR included Arshad Awan, Usman Awan, Naveed, Mansha, Haider and Allah Ditta.

Police said families of the suspects left the village after locking their houses and two teams were conducting raids to arrest them.

On Tuesday, two people namely Muhammad Nawaz and his father Abid Ali died and seven others injured when a group of villagers opened fire inside a mosque during Maghrib prayers over the issue of appointment of a prayer leader.

Two of the injured Ali Hasan and Muhammad Abid, who were referred to Faisalabad Allied Hospital, are said to be critical while five others are stable at Toba DHQ Hospital.

FREE TREATMENT: The Punjab primary and secondary healthcare department has directed all medical superintendents of DHQ and THQ hospitals to provide free treatment to all practising lawyers and their dependants.

A circular received by the medical superintendents in government hospitals on Wednesday said lawyers would produce Punjab Bar Council membership cards in hospitals for the purpose.
