‘Muqam to contest polls from Shangla, Swat’

SHANGLA: PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam will contest election from two National Assembly constituencies in the upcoming general elections scheduled to be held on July 25.

This was stated by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz district president Intikhab Alam here on Thursday. He said that Mr Muqam’s nomination forms were ready for three constituencies, including NA-10 Shangla, NA-2 Swat and PK-4 Swat, which would be submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday.

In 2002 general elections, Mr Muqam had contested election from the same constituency from the MMA platform. In 2008, he had contested election under with symbol of ‘bicycle’ and had won the seat. In 2013, his brother Dr Ibadullah contested the election on PML-N ticket and became MNA.

SECURITY PLAN: Police devised security plan for Eidul Fitr here on Thursday. Under the plan, the police would be deployed at various tourist places and entry and exit points.

A statement issued by district police officer said that police teams had been constituted for Eid security. It said that security measures were also being made for the last two days of Ramazan in view of rush in the markets. Female police would also perform duty in the markets.

Meanwhile, people of Shangla raised their issues during an open kutcheri held at Alpuri Press Club on Thursday.

It was attended by deputy commissioner Tashfeen Haider and other officials besides area people. The major issues confronting the people were referred to the relevant departments for their solution.
