OKARA: The election appellate tribunal has accepted the appeal filed by former provincial minister Raza Ali Gilani against the rejection of his nomination papers by the returning officer (RO) of PP-184 (Okara-2).

The RO rejected Mr Gilani’s papers when his rival raised an objection and claimed that he had not disclosed his luxury car in assets. On an appeal by Mr Gilani, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh of the LHC overruled the objection and allowed him to contest the election.
