Pakistan juniors shine in Penang squash event

ISLAMABAD: After showing brilliant performance in Borneo Junior Squash Open in Malaysia, Pakistani juniors once again displayed outstanding performance on the opening day of the Penang Junior Open, wining all matches of the first round on Tuesday.

In Penang Open, being played in Malaysia, Pakistani juniors are participating in under-13, u-15, u-17 and u-19 categories.

According to results received here, in the under-13 category, Pakistan’s Yaseen Khattak defeated Malaysia’s Danial Danish with 3-0 (11/2, 11/3, 11/3) while in the U-15 contest, Muhammad Ammad and Muhammad Hamza got bye in first round while Noor Zaman eased past Japan’s Jared Ngooi 3-0 with scores of 11-1,11-1,11-5.

Similarly, in the U-17 event, Khushal Riaz outclassed Malaysian Tang Teong 3-0 with game score 11-0,11-3, 11-3 and Hammad Khan beat Malaysian Harith Irfan 3-0, 11-1,11-0,11-3. In the U-19 event, Zeeshan Zeb got bye in first round.

Pakistani juniors a few days ago had won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals in Borneo Junior Squash Open.
