Election monitoring officers take oath in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: As many as 65 election monitoring officers took oath on Friday to assist the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in conducting elections in a transparent manner.
District Returning Officer and District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Khalid Nawaz administered the oath at his office.
Civil Judge Administration Azeem Akhter, Commissioner retired Capt Saif Anjum, Regional Police Officer Fayyaz Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Umer Jehangir, City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Asher Iqbal and other senior officials of the district administration and police were present on the occasion.
Justice Nawaz said the duty of the monitoring officers would be to ensure that the ECP code of conduct was not violated. He asked the district administration to remove streamers, banners and posters that violate the size fixed by the ECP .
Panaflex banners have been completely banned.
According to Justice Nawaz, monitoring officers should visit their respective areas and report to the election commissioner through the deputy commissioner.
Station officers should report violations to their respective district monitoring officer who will inform the ECPThe district administration will take action against the accused candidate and party after receiving directives from the Commission.
