CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has called upon the caretaker government to play its due role in holding general elections in a transparent manner.

He asked the authorities concerned to review security arrangements for the poll candidates.

He stated this while addressing a public meeting in PK-60 constituency in Shabqadar here on Friday. QWP provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, party’s candidate Babar Ali Mohmand and others also spoke on the occasion.

Aftab Sherpao said transparent elections were instrumental in political stability, which would ensure the country’s development. He said state machinery should not be misused in the elections, and such an environment should be created that people should have confidence in the electoral process and all the political parties should accept the election results.

He criticised the PTI leadership for doing no service to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the PTI had distributed tickets only among the wealthy people at the cost of diehard workers.

He claimed that the people would reject the PTI in the upcoming elections through the power of vote.

Mr Sherpao said presently the country was facing serious issues and it was need of the hour to address them. He said it was high time to focus on the issues the Pakhtuns were facing. He said all the political parties and other stakeholders should sit together to address the water issue.

He said projects like Dimer-Bhasha Dam and Munda Dam were of vital importance to resolve the water energy crises.

EXAM RESULTS: The Peshawar Model School’s Charsadda branch clinched 12 out of top 20 positions in the annual examinations of secondary school certificate conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar.

According to the results, students of Peshawar Model Girls High School-II, Peshawar, got first, second and third positions while students of Peshawar Model School’s Charsadda branch got fourth and fifth positions. Omera Tariq of the school got 1,056 marks and Mahnoor obtained 1,055 marks out of total 1,100, and stood fourth and fifth, respectively.

Furthermore, the school also got 10 more positions out of the top 20. The school’s principal, Nusrat Nazir appreciated the school staff and students for best performance in board examination. She said the school would maintain its position to promote qualitative education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
