Rs1bn Abad seed fund for low-cost housing

KARACHI: The Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (Abad) has created a seed fund of Rs1 billion for construction of affordable low-cost housing throughout Pakistan. The move aims to overcome shortage of quality housing in the country, said Chairman Abad Arif Jeewa at the website launch for Affordable Housing Advisory Centre for Affordable Settlements and Housing at Abad House here on Saturday.

Mr Arif Habib, chairman of the Arif Habib Group and a senior member of Abad announced to provide equity for the seed fund. He urged banks to provide funds for Abad low cost housing schemes.

The website has been developed by Mr Zaigham Mahmood Rizvi, former managing director House Building Finance Corporation Limited (HBFCL) and Secretary General Asia Pacific Union for Housing Finance.
