NAB may file references against former CM, minister

QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s Balochistan chapter has sought approval from the bureau chairman of filing references against a former chief minister and a former provincial food minister and launching investigations against some serving and former government officials over misuse of authority, corruption and amassing assets beyond their known sources of income.

This decision was taken in a meeting of the regional board of NAB chaired by its Director General for Balochistan Mirza Muhammad Irfan Baig.

A spokesman for NAB’s Balochistan chapter said here on Saturday that the meeting discussed different corruption cases and decided to seek permission for filing corruption references against former chief minister of Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani and former provincial minister for food Mir Izhar Khosa and launching investigations against a former secretary of services and general administration, the director general of treasury and officials of the Balochistan Assembly and local government.

It was also decided to initiate investigations in other cases against the officials of the Water and Sanitary Agency (Wasa), the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the food department. The meeting decided to seek approval from the NAB chairman of filing a reference against Mr Raisani in the illegal appointments case and Mr Khosa in the wheat embezzlement case.
