PML-N leader joins PTI

ISLAMABAD: Farhana Qamar Abbasi, a PML-N leader and former MNA, elected on reserved seat from Islamabad, on Monday joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

Ms Qamar, who was active in various National Assembly standing committees, had a meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Banigala.

Sources said that Ms Qamar was not happy with PML-N as it did not award her ticket for reserved seat from Islamabad.

“Farhana Qamar had a meeting with Imran Khan and joined our party,” said PTI leader Ali Awan, who is running election campaign of party head from NA-53, Islamabad.

Mr Khan is contesting elections against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of PML-N and PPP’s Sibtul Haider Bokhari in NA-53.

Sources said that on July 5, a former senator of PML-N is also going to join PTI.

Speaking to Dawn, Ms Qamar said that in rural area of NA-53, there were a considerable number of votes of her Abbasi clan, and her family and group would vote and support PTI Chairman in the general elections.
